Waihanga Ara Rau’s role is to lead the development of industry qualifications, set industry standards and assess training provision against these industry standards, which may be delivered on-job, on campus or online. As part of the Review of Vocational Education (RoVE) extensive consultation with industry and the vocational education sector took place prior to Waihanga Ara Rau being stood up last October. Find out what’s happened since then and what’s in the pipeline for the TTM sector.
Sue was appointed as Relationship Manager – Civil for Waihanga Ara Rau last October, after spending six years with Connexis ITO as an advisor in their national field team. She trained initially as a primary school teacher and then went on to spend 17 years as Head of Adult and Continuing Education at Otumoetai College in Tauranga. During this time, she completed a Bachelor of Education with a focus on adult education issues and needs. She has also worked as a programme manager for a large workplace literacy private training provider and as a contract behavioural safety resource writer and trainer. In 2022 (Covid Guidelines permitting), she will be on the road engaging with industry, so she can understand and advocate for your needs. Her role is to gather intelligence and insights to support Waihanga Ara Rau’s qualification, assessment moderation and research teams because we are now in the early stages of the biggest change to vocational education in a generation.
